The Federal Standard
On December 20, 2019, federal law raised the minimum age for the sale of all tobacco products in the United States from 18 to 21 years old.
This law means it is illegal for us to sell any covered product—including those without nicotine—to anyone under the age of 21.
What Products Are Covered?
The T21 law is broad, covering far more than just traditional cigarettes. It applies to the sale of:
- Cigarettes and loose tobacco
- Cigars and pipe tobacco
- Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS): This includes all vaping devices, mods, tanks, pods, accessories, and e-liquids (even 0mg, in many cases).
- Paraphernalia: Many related accessories (like certain glass items) are also covered by local age restrictions.
This is why, regardless of what you are purchasing, our staff will always prioritize compliance.
Our Strict ID Check Policy
To comply with the law and protect our community, HiddenHaze maintains a strict age verification policy:
- ID is Required: We check ID for every person attempting to purchase an age-restricted item.
- Appearance Matters: Our staff will check the photo identification of anyone who appears to be under the age of 30 (or a similar conservative threshold).
- No Exceptions: We cannot accept notes, expired IDs, or pictures of IDs. We must see a valid, government-issued photo ID.
We understand ID checks can be tedious, but they are absolutely necessary. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in helping us remain a law-abiding business and a responsible community partner.
